PHOTOS FOR US

A Mother and Daughter live on opposite sides of the earth. Both will celebrate a milestone age in their life during 2010. This blog will be their story for the next year, photographs of what they see, feel, love or hate.

These are their lives...

Tuesday 30 November 2010

This evening I helped film a TV programme for Japanese TV. Very bizarre! I couldn't take a photo of the crew as there were no cameras allowed on set. But I got a picture of a CT scanner instead.

First Christmas card today....thank you Foreshaw Building Contractors, nice card!

Monday 29 November 2010

An anniversary card. Three years today since me and the man met.

It's snowing!

Sunday 28 November 2010

A lazy Sunday afternoon, reading and painting.

Frosty grass, it was still like this at midday - freezing!

Saturday 27 November 2010

Incy Wincy Spider climed up the water spout... down came the rain and the killer spider didn't move... not one millimetre!!! This little lady was about 2 inches inches from tip to toe. Not sure if this one is poisonous... will google it later.

The Orwell Bridge on a crisp, cold afternoon.

Friday 26 November 2010

David's Christmas dinner with work was on the Kookaburra Queen river cruise. Great company, free bubbles and I can't complain about the view. This is the little bro' to the London eye. Out there in the world somewhere are a German family standing in front of it for a family photo. My dad decided to get in with the action and pose with them - not for one photo but for two!

The Rose theatre, built 1587 and plays are still being performed on the site. Tonight 'More Light' by Snoo Wilson. The picture is the lit up outline of the original theatre.

Thursday 25 November 2010

Now which thing in the fridge do you think will be eaten first ? I should hide this from the man really... I'm not into sharing chocolate.

Film crew in Borough Market this afternoon, just around the corner was Denis Waterman having his make up and hair done. 'Oi Denis - loved 'The Sweeney'!

Wednesday 24 November 2010

These will be winging their way to the UK very very soon...

I have also been wrapping up!

Tuesday 23 November 2010

The time I left for work this morning.

These visitors come to peck around our bird table a couple of times a day. They are so lovely, Mr & Mrs....have to be careful when taking a picture, they are easily spooked.

Monday 22 November 2010

We have a lot of these ladies living in the garage. Apparently they are the most dangerous spider in Australia to humans - but their fangs are too small to bite any humans - so we're safe!

I have been 'cultivating' these lichens on a concrete seat for over 15 years, they are now really starting to 'come into their own'.

Sunday 21 November 2010

Another view from the apartment. The queen owns this campsite - wonder if she's ever been on holiday here... or even knows that she has it ?

Moss really annoys me, it grows in between the paving slabs on the patio but when you get down to it....it's amazing.

Saturday 20 November 2010

The view from the apartment.

Did a 'big shop' today......where to put it all?

Friday 19 November 2010

Driving up to the Sunshine Coast for a weekend of adventure... The weather didn't improve the whole weekend... so it ended up as chill out time instead. Still had a great time though.

It was foggy when I got up this morning. Took this with the flash on the camera.

Thursday 18 November 2010

Our bin men have been on strike for two days now. You can get a huge fine in Aus if you leave your bin out over night, so it's a big deal that they haven't been emptied. The reason they are on strike is because one of them has been sacked... because he kept hitting peoples cars! I'm not even kidding. I love Australia.

Something Australian from the UK. We bought this a few years ago on the last day of what had been a fabulous three weeks in Tasmania and Victoria. I love Aboriginal art. It is on our living room wall and I look at it every day never tiring of it.

Wednesday 17 November 2010

This annoys me. It's all because whoever installed it didn't screw it in properly in the first place. It won't budge ... I've tried.

Iconic London Black Cabs.

Tuesday 16 November 2010

This is one of the palm trees in our front garden... I love the chaos of them.

Our patio furniture on a frosty morning,

Monday 15 November 2010

My friend Mrs RR is sooooo thoughful... Look what she bought me! I might let the Mr. have one cup if he's nice to me. Thank you Mrs RR!

4 sentences, 4 lies! My train was not delayed up to 20 mins, it was cancelled. Route Improvement.....really? Engineers may be working quickly but only after they have had a bacon buttie and a cuppa. And sorry for inconvenience.....don't make me laugh. Not a good start to a Monday!

Sunday 14 November 2010

I am now a PADI Diver!!! Yey for me!!!!

Mum - is the photo below a photo off the TV ?
Andrea - Yes I took the photo from the TV - no cheating!

It would be difficult not to be moved by the march past at the Cenotaph in London each year. I wasn't sitting in a tree or on the end of a crane to take this picture, it is courtesy of the BBC.

Saturday 13 November 2010

It was my work Christmas party his evening. Depsite all the photos I took - this one of the view from the roof top venue was my favourite. Brisbane CBD looks like a Toy Town. The tall building to the right with the dark grey flat roof is Charlotte Towers. This was where the we lived when we first arrived in Oz!

Today, Heather helped me chase some 'grey.....well white!' away.

Friday 12 October 2010

I took this from our deck. It was raining over next doors driveway and house... but not over ours! The man said that rain has to start somewhere... but I prefer the thought that someone was shining on me that day : )

Skyped Andrea and David today.

Thursday 11 November 2010

Not very well : (

Armistice Day. This photograph was taken on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month

Wednesday 10 November 2010

This is what was inside the package yesterday! A tad early for Christmas but the decorations have to go up sometime... so here I've started here. It would be really easy to not put any Christmas decorations up living in Australia. 1; We don't have many people over to share them with, this includes a Mum and Sister to ooo and ahhh over them. 2; The Mr is not at all excited to help, admire, acknowledge or comment. 3; It dosn't feel like Christmas with the 30degree+ heat! So really the Christmas decorations are all about me. I'm determind to not give in though... They're going up come December 1... and I'm going themed... not sure in which direction yet though.

The ruins of Winchester Palace in Southwark. The was one of the largest and most important buildings in Medieval London. Founded in the 12th century this is all that remains. Note the lunchtime jogger that managed to get in the picture. I love the Rose window. I hate lunchtime joggers!

Tuesday 9 October 2010

Look at what arrived this morning.... I wonder what's inside!

My favourite outerwear at the moment, my lovely Driza-Bone coat, bought in Adelaide and a wonderful scarf, bought in Tasmania.......perfect for the UK weather!

Monday 8 November 2010

Sorry Dad - this is going to be drunk without you. Apparently you're not allowed to call it Port anymore... because it's not from Port (land/country ???) like you're not allowed to call Champagne, Champagne, because it's not from that region in France!!! Well - it will always be Port to me.... Port, Port, Port, Port.... PORT!

So I said to my dentist 'I know this is an odd request but can I take a picture of your chair'.
'Sure' he said.
'Only I am doing this picture a day thing and putting on a blog'.
'That's fine' he said, 'Do you want me to drape myself over the chair?'
'Er no' I said, 'the empty chair will be enough'

Sunday 7 November 2010

A day at the beach. Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast to be exact. We watched the Coolangatta run from our camping chairs, 48 km of running, biking and swimming. Only got a tad sunburnt - as always on the top of my feet!

Patchwork carpet of fallen leaves, amazing how many different shades & colours.

Saturday 6 November 2010

See October entry for comparison. The view is getting greener and certainly more noisy with crickets and birds!

On the way home tonight from the O2 Greenwich.
