PHOTOS FOR US

A Mother and Daughter live on opposite sides of the earth. Both will celebrate a milestone age in their life during 2010. This blog will be their story for the next year, photographs of what they see, feel, love or hate.

These are their lives...

One of our engagement cards. Note the red haired lady, wearing purple (my favourite colour),
drinking bubbles (my favourite drink) with a very sparkly ring on her finger (just like mine) !!!!
Thanks M+D xxx
Our hens are not the best layers but the past couple of days they have done really well

Tuesday 26 April 2011

Holiday is over : (
I do love a brochure, ticket, or nice leaflet !

'The girls' going for their evening stroll.

Monday 25 April 2011

Wombat poo really is square.

Horse chestnut tree

Sunday 24 April 2011

We spent today at Cradle Mountain. We were up at at the base ready for the walk around Lake Dove by 8am. I wasn't happy - until I was greeted by this. I love rainbows. You never know when you're going to see one, and no matter what's behind them, they make the place all cheery.

Easter day - chocolate heaven!

Saturday 23 April 2011

Mount Roland on the edge of Cradle Mountain National Park. This huge Mountain just appears out of the ground and people live right at the base. A bit like Uluru.

To celebrate St Georges day I decided we would tidy the garage. Well the middle bit is now tidy, just got the edges to do. Found a lost rucksack! Gus (in the picture) and Holly are not impressed by this tidiness, no chance of mice hunting now!

Friday 22 April 2011

A very lonely log.

I am not really a fan of 'chemical' drugs and prefer herbal/natural remedies if at all possible.

Thursday 21 April 2011

Our boat ride to Wine Glass Bay in Freycinet had to turn back due to gale force winds and 3 metre high waves. David and I were the only people on the boat that loved it !

I planted these bluebells in a corner of the garden last year. A neighbour gave me the bulbs she had pulled up from her garden so they were planted late one night, when I got in from work, in the dark with a shovel and a torch.....didn't think they would survive.....but they look really pretty.

Wednesday 20 April 2011

Coles Bay in Tasmania - awesome rocks with amazing colours.

Another day and another orchid. A yellow one this time. Now all my orchids have featured in this blog as they have all flowered this year.

Tuesday 19 April 2011

I can't remember what this cave was called - but it was down the road from Port Arthur.

On Sunday 11 July 2010 I took a picture of cherries on our tree, hopefully we will get more this year judging by this blossom

Monday 18 April 2011

Eaglehawk Neck. This was the tessalated pavement we stopped at on our way to Port Arthur.

Is this the way to Amaryllis? One of the 'girls' I work with has grown this from a bulb that had already flowered......and I always threw them away after one flowering.

Sunday 17 April 2011

The view from the top of Mount Wellington. The city beneath is Hobart.

Just got back from the garden centre and now all I have to do is plant this little lot in the empty beds behind!

Saturday 16 April 2011

First stop on our Tasmanian Adventure... Hobart.

Is this Bill or is this Ben?

Friday 15 April 2011

I thought mums idea for a wedding notebook was a good one.

My new 'favourite' mug, full of hot chocolate.......

Thursday 14 April 2011

A gift for my manager on her birthday.

Nice selection of cards, a mothers day card from Heather, an Easter card from Australia and a thank you card from Esme, who I reckon had help sending it!

Wednesday 13 April 2011

An office toy!

Booked flights to Australia today, a 'new to us' stop over, so got the guide book!

Tuesday 12 April 2011

This really annoyed me - even more when I returned it to have them remove the tag and they refused until they had seen the receipt !!! I told the lady at customer services that they should have removed it in the first place !!! Bloody rude!!!

My 'mental' tree..... just starting to get its leaves. See it in full leaf on 11 Aug 2010

Monday 11 April 2011

I dislike washing up and I dislike putting the dry things on the draining board away even more.

I have photographed a rainbow before but the 'big skys' we get here make them beautiful. We had a storm just before it got dusk. The road traffic cone in the middle of the field keeps the farmers ploughing straight!

Sunday 10 April 2011

A view from the deck... also seen here and here.

If you ever feel 'chilly' in my house this blanket is always available. My mum crocheted this years ago, using odd bits of wool, from unused to re skeined from old jumpers, true make and mend recycling.

Saturday 9 April 2011

My version of cats and chooks.

Our lovely Taihaku, the flowers are so white and the new leaves are dark brown, the contrast against todays blue sky is stunning.

Friday 8 April 2011

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part One. This part where they bury Dobby made me cry.

Bought a book today so I can fill it with, idea's, letters, memos, plans, flights, holidays, cakes, disco's, food, sightseeing, thoughts, photographs, contacts, themes, things to do, places to go.

Thursday 7 April 2011

What happened to good o'le fashioned fruit scones. These ones are rasberry and choc chip flavoured !!! You can't exactly smother these with butter!!!

I have 'gardened' for years, so how come it was only four years ago that I found this amazing plant. Leopards Bane. These lovely yellow daisies flower every year, just after the daffodils start to wane and carry on until summer plants take over. They put up with dry conditions in the summer and multiply enough so you can pass them onto friends. Brilliant.

Wednesday 6 April 2011

The easter bunny came all the way from the UK to our post box this morning. We had a lovely surprise... I'm going to make it last as long as I can.

Who is herding who?

Tuesday 5 April 2011

Look what we got this morning. A lovely bottle of bubbly. Thanks M, D H and R.

and I got these as well. I LOVE tulips

Monday 4 April 2011

I like sesame snaps... these aren't the best brand - but all I could get from the gas station this morning.

It was Mother's Day in the UK yesterday and I got these lovely tulips.

Sunday 3 April 2011

This was the third part of the creek/river that we had to cross on our walk today. All the paths had been flooded due to heavy rain. My wet boots and I walked for another hour before I removed them and my soggy socks in the car on the journey home. It wasn't until we were nearly home, that I looked at my feet and found a hitchhiking leech stuck to my big toe !!! It was possibly the most grosse thing that has ever happened to me. Made even worse, when I found another even larger one in my boot. How the hell it found its way into my sock I don't know !!!

Plum blossom - lets hope we get some plums this year!
