PHOTOS FOR US

A Mother and Daughter live on opposite sides of the earth. Both will celebrate a milestone age in their life during 2010. This blog will be their story for the next year, photographs of what they see, feel, love or hate.

These are their lives...

Friday 29 October 2010

A busy day at work... one of the best I've had recently. The fruits of this labour will be able to be viewed at the end of December.

The Ancient House in Ipswich, Grade I listed, run by English Heritage, dates back to the 15th century with a very interesting history....... and inside is one of my favourite stores....... Lakeland.

Thursday 28 October 2010

The latest installation... Tate worthy?

Well the cows (bullocks) have gone from the field opposite and now we have sheep....lots of sheep!

Wednesday 27 October 2010

We bought a plant/shrub a few months ago... and this is the flower on it at the moment- who knew we'd get a flower on it !!!

Go down these stairs, turn right, through the door and you are in the basement of the building where I work. I won't go down there, I even hate standing on the stairs to read the meters. They all laugh at me and say I am scared. They are right....no way am I going down there!

Tuesday 26 October 2010

This piece of paper gets me through my day at work. It changes in colour and length frequently. This is pretty short at the moment as they go. I need the constant reminders of where I am with all these projects and I love the satisfaction of crossing through things when completed.

Lunch at my desk today, that'll teach me to go swanning around London yesterday, but not worried, my favourite lunch....Jacket spud with cheese and coleslaw.....yum!

Monday 25 October 2010

David's Doppleganger !!!

A lovely crisp Autumn day today, took myself down to the river for a walk at lunchtime. Turned into a bit of a tourist, St Pauls and the Millenium Bridge. Shame to have to go back to work really.

Sunday 24 October 2010

Someone at Melbourne Station should learn how to read a map !!!

Cow Parsley seed head. So pretty, it reminds me of a lace tablecloth my Mum made.

Saturday 23 October 2010

We had a lovely weekend in Melbourne and visited the Melbourne Aquarium during our trip. The emperor penguin... I don't know if they could see us humans through the glass or if this guy was just admiring his own reflection.

Not many of these left now, most people have mobile phones these days.

Friday 22 October 2010

Another animal picture... these guys are loving the sun we're starting to get. From top to tail this little guy was about a metre in length.

A night of Passion at the Donmar with David and Norman.
''Here's to us, Who's like us? Damn few.''

Thursday 21 October 2010

It's like a zoo outside the house today. We've had noisy crows ( which the council have told me are not a pest and we can't get rid of !) water dragons sunbathing ( in no sun!) and seven of these little fellas laughing their heads off. You know you're in Oz when you wake up to them : )

The pond in Redcross Gardens. A community garden that is maintained by volunteers. It is a haven of tranquility in the city.

Wednesday 20 October 2010

His and hers.

There is a picture of this posted on 25 August but now all the buds on the flower spike are in bloom. That first flower has been blooming for two months! It is beautiful and the flowers are so heavy the pot keeps falling over!

Tuesday 19 October 2010

How random is this... I planted them all at the same time, and this is one that has flowered first.

Outside London Bridge station this evening. Hundreds of police and their vans with flashing lights. In London you always think the worst, train crash, bomb......I asked a 'copper' what the problem was. 'Millwall playing at home' he said. I didn't think they had that many supporters. I would add that at that moment I did not believe what I had been told, so when I got home I checked it out. It was true! Am I becoming too cynical?

Monday 18 October 2010

This photo was taken from Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Brisbane River and cityscape.
I love this city.

A bit of Autumn colour in our neighbours garden.

Sunday 17 October 2010

Today we went to a exhibition at the GOMA in Brisbane. They had an exhibition of photographs taken by Douglas Kirkland displayed. Recognise this one ?

Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken get on and lay some eggs!

Saturday 16 October 2010

These are my favourite earrings. They go with anything... and were a gift from Mum and Dad last Christmas.

Whoever thought of this is BRILLIANT!

Friday 15 October 2010

This is Kapow... Hayley's Japanese Fighting fish.

Shame, I was so looking forward to interacting with this art.....and I am not kidding. Tate Modern....I love it!

Thursday 14 October 2010

Jacaranda - If it falls and hits you it's meant to bring you luck. These trees have no green leaves while they're flowering which makes the mass of lilac bloom really stand out against the green of the other trees.

Manningtree Railway Station, facing towards London, 6.55 a.m. You have to be a morning person to appreciate this!

Wednesday 13 October 2010

A candle.

Dad is making pickled onions again!

Tuesday 12 October 2010

Storm drains are scary places, especially when you're out in a storm with an umbrella in hand trying to take a photo!

This is Stoney Street, they are building a railway above the buildings, coming out of London Bridge station. This pub, the Wheatsheaf, will be back in business when it is finished, other properties have been completely demolished. It is MAJOR building work.

Monday 11 October 2010

My new car...his name is Mac : )

Some really lovely cheese bought straight from France. Thanks Frances & Dave. Yum!

Sunday 10 October 2010 10-10-10!

These are the first successful Yorkshire Puddings I have ever made from scratch - and it's typical that I've just found a shop that sells Aunt Bessies! The secret I have discovered is the oven has to be hotter than you think is hot enough !! Note the little red pots they are in... they are my new favourite kitchen tool... they have lids and mini pot stands as well !
Did a bric-a-brac (old junk!) stall for the RSPB today. Yes Andrea, they are your DVD's of Lost and no I didn't sell them 'cause I wasn't going to give them away.

Saturday 9 October 2010

This is the view from my balcony. I'm going to take the same picture every month around the same date, that way I can see the changes in the season.
Temp: 18c Wind: S at 21km/h Humidity: 88% Weather:Showers

And this was the view a couple of years ago!

Friday 8 October 2010

This is what airconditioning looks like. It's a vital part of my working day. Another great invention by the Romans !

Fire! Nothing quite like a bonfire.

Thursday 7 October 2010

This is Cone Snail shell. They are very venomous... but so pretty!

'The Lord Clyde' a traditional pub that has not lost any of its charm. Good food and excellent beer. Have spent quite a few lunch times and evenings here.....including lunchtime today.

Wednesday 6 October 2010

My fridge door displaying a Shakespearean quote.

After days of cloud and rain at last we had blue skies today. This is what I see from my office window. The round windows belong to the 'Church of the Precious Blood' next door.

Tuesday 5 October 2010

I promise that this is the last weather related blog picture for a while... but look at these clouds - I couldn't resist. I took this from my manager's office window. It never rained where we were - but somewhere, someone's washing got very wet!

Andrea - heaven! Trouble is it only holds a pint, get two I suppose.
